The DC-10's first accident happened on the 12 June 1972 with American Airlines Flight 96. The aircraft suffered a Cargo door failure due to a design flaw, leading to rapid decompression. Thankfully the crew and the pilot managed to emergency land the aircraft and all 67 occupants escaped safely.
